Game Developer Magazine heeft onlangs een artikel gepubliceerd waarin Infinity Ward aangeeft dat zij geen Call of Duty-delen meer over de Tweede Wereldoorlog gaan ontwikkelen. De keuze voor Modern Warfare was niet zozeer omdat IW vindt dat het WWII-genre dood is, maar omdat IW een nieuw WWII-deel niet dezelfde passie mee kan geven als de vorige drie games dat het team heeft ontwikkeld, Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, Call of Duty en Call of Duty 2. Na Call of Duty 2 ging IW van start met het vierde deel van de Call of Duty-reeks en begonnen verschillende ideeën uit te werken, waarbij veel richtingen uitliepen op mislukkingen. Het idee van de Modern Warfare was uiteindelijk het optimale resultaat. Voor de Tweede Wereldoorlog-liefhebbers onder ons, maak je geen zorgen: Treyarch is momenteel bezig met het ontwikkelen van Call of Duty 5, die als thema het Tweede Wereldoorlog zal hebben. |
