In tegenstelling tot de werking van vele custom maps en modificaties, ondergaat een map bij Infinity Ward vele stappen en veranderingen voordat het level akkoord bevonden wordt. Testing teams draaien dag en nacht om ook maar de meest kleinste fouten eruit te pikken. Kleine bugs en grote bugs worden verwijderd, huizen verwijderd of toegevoegd, of zelfs de hele layout wordt aangepast. Een hoop werk, maar het resultaat mag er dan ook zijn.
