De multiplayer van Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare zal bij de lancering niet de gametype Capture the Flag bevatten. Infinity Ward verklaard op het officiële forum dat het niveau van het gametype niet optimaal was. Daarop volgend heeft de ontwikkelaar besloten de gametype niet bij de lancering te gebruiken. Infinity Ward benadrukt wel dat Capture the Flag na de lancering zal worden vrijgegeven via een update voor de multiplayer.
