Rise of the Resistance, de officiële uitbreiding voor Call of Duty 2, samengesteld door de community is nu definitief gestopt. Eerder speelde er al problemen in het team zoals inactiviteit en gebrek aan interesse in het project. Hierna werd besloten toch een nieuwe start te maken door slechts één campagne uit te brengen. Nu dit resultaat ook niet behaald werd, werd ervoor gekozen het project op te heffen. Dit meldt de website van Rise of the Resistance. Hieronder een greep uit het officiële nieuwsbericht:

Now, first and foremost, I want to say thankyou to all Community Members from the modding community that came on board, and helped out as much as they did. A special thank you to Tally, for starting this project, fronting all the resources and finances for the websites, servers, etc, etc.

Now, due to alot of complications and unforeseen obsticales, both in the creation of Rise of the Resistance and all of the Dev Teams personal lives, jobs, commitments, etc. we unfortunately have to shut down production.....

Met deze aankondiging wordt het wederom duidelijk dat er niet veel projecten meer overblijven die werken aan Call of Duty 2. Naast Rise of the Resistance lijkt ook de German Front Mod niet veel meer actief te zijn met het project.
