Volgens Bobby Kotick (CEO Activision) is Call of Duty: Black Ops een eerbetoon aan soldaten. Daarom zal hij een miljoen dollar doneren aan het Call of Duty Edowment fonds. Dit meldde hij gisteren tijdens het lanceringsevenemt in Santa Monica. Kotick verteld:
"Call of Duty is een eerbetoon aan de moed, de dedicatie en de opoffering van de mensen die ons land en de vrijheid over de hele wereld verdedigen."
"Misschien komt het daarom dat onze soldaten, onze matrozen, onze mannen en vrouwen in de lucht en marines die zich bevinden op allerlei gevaarlijke plekken, alsmede de militairen die thuis zitten, Call of Duty als de nummer één videogame omarmen." Het Call of Duty edowment fonds zorgt ervoor dat de soldaten weer terugkomen in hun normale leven nadat hun dienst erop zit.

Een miljoen is niet echt veel voor Activision, maar het maakt niet uit of het geld gegeven wordt door iemand die zelf 'maar' een miljoen heeft, of door iemand die miljarden op de bank heeft staan.
Wel goede reclame, dit. Dat zal wel de belangrijkste reden zijn geweest om het geld te geven. Maar, nog een keer, dat maakt het nog niet minder goed. |
