Het werknemersaantal is inmiddels met de helft verminderd en een groot deel is vertrokken naar de studio van West en Zampella, Respawn Entertainment. De eerste berichten van het einde van Infinity Ward beginnen nu ook te komen, zo heeft Mike Hickey, analist bij Janco Partners ook gesproken. Volgens Mike Hickey heeft Infinity Ward niet lang meer te leven, na de release van de volgende DLC zal de studio worden opgedoekt. Activision zal de studio natuurlijk zo lang mogelijk in leven willen houden, een studio van het kaliber van Infinity Ward mag eigenlijk niet verloren gaan. “We expect Infinity Ward studio will be essentially closed after their next map pack release, with development work on Modern Warfare 3 spread between two studios not historically tied to the franchise.” |

Vandaag is eindelijk duidelijk geworden waarom Activision het niet zo heel erg vindt dat haar voormalige paradepaardje Infinity Ward compleet leeg lijkt te lopen. De uitgever heeft namelijk een gigantische exclusieve deal gesloten met Bungie, de studio achter de Halo reeks, om voor meerdere platformen games te gaan ontwikkelen onder het Activision label.
Bungie blijft wel een eigen studio die niet onderdeel gaat uitmaken van Activision, maar zal de komende tien jaar dus exclusief voor Activision games gaan ontwikkelen. Ook zal de ontwikkelaar dus niet langer alleen voor de Xbox 360 produceren.
