Call of Duty: World at War begon ermee, de spetterende gamemodus die door veel gamers met open armen werd ontvangen, de Nazi Zombie modus. Door de Call of Duty community werd meerdere malen gevraagd aan Infinity Ward of ze de Nazi Zombie modus in de game wilde laten. Na een lange stilte over de modus heeft Todd Alderman aangeven dat de modus niet terugkeert in de game. Infinity Ward heeft speciaal de Spec Ops modus verzonnen, hopelijk een mooi alternatief. De Spec Ops modus past eigenlijk wel wat beter bij de game, omdat je in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 immers niet meer tegen de Duitsers speelt. De Nazi Zombie was een prachtige modus, nu hopen dat Spec Ops, Nazi Zombie overtreft. "It depends on what it is. For us it didn’t fit in our game. We have Spec Ops which is our off-the-storyline path, but it’s just not our bag really. We like to keep it consistent and in the same universe, not to say that we wouldn’t do something like that in the future, but for what we are doing right now it’s just not something we’d do. We want everything to… like things we do in multiplayer contribute to things we put in the single-player, which contribute to things we put into multiplayer, which contributes to things we put in Spec Ops. If you have ray-guns and teleporters it’s not going to help." Aldus Todd Alderman.

ik hoop eigenlijk dat treyarch door blijft gaan met CoD5 patchen en nieuwe maps maken.
En IW, ja wat zou je daarop moeten zeggen? Gewoon doorgaan met de top game maken(verbeteren).

Nazi zombies in CoD Waw heeft niets te maken met CoD zelf. Het is gewoon een opeenstaande extra. Misschien lijkt het wel wat nep. Maar ik heb liever fun dan dat ik denk: Ik wil een über-realistisch spel.
