Het grootste Nederlandse gameblad Power Unlimited heeft in haar nieuwste nummer een preview van Modern Warfare 2 gepubliceerd. Redactielid JJ reisde af naar Londen om de eerste beelden te bekijken van de game en wist tevens de nodige informatie over de aankomende game van Infinity Ward te verkrijgen. In het nieuwste nummer staat vermeld dat in de singleplayer de physics van kogels en granaten een stuk realistischer zijn geworden. Kogels ketsen nu af en granaten vallen van een trap of helling naar beneden zoals ze dat in het echt ook zouden doen. Daarnaast is het nu mogelijk om een pistool in de ene hand te houden terwijl je in je andere hand een mes vasthoudt. De hand met het mes ondersteunt het pistool. Verrassend nieuw item in Modern Warfare 2 is de aanwezigheid van bullet-time. De functie, die werd geintroduceerd in de film The Matrix, is een bijzondere wijze van slowmotion filmen om de kogel heen.

Bullet Time werd eigenlijk als term èn als middel in games geïntroduceerd in Max Payne. Trouwens, op welke manier is het in het spel verwerkt? Als je in de singleplayer mooi een vijand in z'n hoofd schiet, dat je dan een mooie vertraging te zien krijgt of ook degelijk in de multiplayer?
Zou het erg spijtig vinden moest het controleerbaar worden... Overigens ben ik benieuwd naar de verbeterde physics... ze staan op dat punt al jaren achter. (Kijk naar Havok Physics, erg oud maar nog steeds stukken realistischer dan de physics in Call of Duty.... of de physics in GTAIV!) |
