Terwijl iedereen vol belangstelling zit te wachten op Infinity's Ward Modern Warfare 2, hebben we weer wat te melden over het in november vorig jaar verschenen Call of Duty: World at War. Uitgever Activision en ontwikkelaar Treyarch hebben namelijk aangekondigd dat er een tweede mappack voor het spel op komst is. Volgens de planning zal die in juni uitkomen voor de Xbox 360 en de PS3, over de PC-versie is nog niks bekend. Aan verdere details ontbreekt het zeker niet.. De tweede map pack brengt ons net zoals de eerste in totaal drie nieuwe maps en een uitgebreid nieuw level voor de populaire zombiemodus. Ten eerste krijg je ''Banzai'' voor je kiezen, waarin alles draait om een grote brug middenin vijandig territorium. Ten tweede zul je vechten in ''Corrision'', een groot Russisch spoorwegstation. Ten derde zul je in een basis voor onderzeeërs moeten strijden, met de map ''Sub Pens''. Wat misschien nog het belangrijkste van allemaal is, is het nieuwe level voor de zombiemodus, nu in Oosterse stijl. ''Shi No Numa'', zombiemoeras, brengt ons onder andere vele vallen, perk machines, een nieuw wapen, tien nieuwe Xbox 360 achievements/Playstation 3 trophies en last but not least ''vurige hellehonden'', waar we tot nu toe nog niets over weten. Het is leuk om te horen dat men wat 'nieuws' probeert: Japanse Zombies + Helhonden (ik vermoed dat het dik kans tegenstanders zullen zijn in zombies).
Overigens een extra wapen namelijk de 'Wunderwaffe DG-2' (ook voor zombies, wat niet vermeld wordt in het artikel). Spijtig genoeg had ik echter gehoopt op èchte nieuwe wapenaanwinsten zoals bijvoorbeeld: Johnson Rifle, Luger pistool, Nagant Revolver ...).
En de maps klinken ook 'meer van hetzelfde als vorige map pack' in plaats van weldegelijk echte nieuwe/originele maps/slagvelden weer te geven. Echter, volgens mij gaat die zombie map het helemaal zijn.
Ik ben benieuwd! Hopelijk zijn alle drie de multiplayer maps grote maps... |

Ik heb nog even overwogen om over dat wonderwapen te schrijven, maar ik doe dat pas wanneer er meer details over worden vrijgegeven.
Het is wat mij betreft vrij logisch dat de maps niet erg innovatief zijn, Treyarch moet zo ondertussen al flink bezig zijn met een nieuw project, uitkomend in 2010.
Ik heb gelezen dat ''Sub Pens'' behoorlijk klein zal zijn.

Niets wijst uit dat ze misschien nog een opvolger gaan ontwikkelen.
Blijf het nog steeds een beetje vaag vinden: hoort MW2 - officieel gezien - nou nog bij de CoD serie?
Zo niet, dan hebben ze het wel slim bedacht om lekker wat onafhankelijker te worden. Maar ze blijven nog wel gewoon bij Activision.
Maar ja, als het in ieder geval maar wel CoD-kwaliteit is he. :-) Ben nu wel heel benieuwd naar MW2. |
