Call of Duty 4, het vierde deel van de Call of Duty hoofdserie, komt 15 september 2008 ook uit voor de Mac. Met deze door i5works ontwikkelde versie is het mogelijk om de game ook te kunnen spelen op de Macintosh computer van Apple.
De Mac-versie van de game kan voor $54.99 gepreorderd worden op de website van Aspyr Media. Call of Duty 4 is verder ook beschikbaar voor de PC, de Playstation 3, de Xbox 360 en de Nintendo DS. Het overbrengen van games naar de Mac gebeurd wel vaker; i5works was ook verantwoordelijk voor de Mac-versie van Call of Duty 2. |

Call of Duty 4 is volledig compatable met de PC versie.
Ik heb zelf met het bedrijf Aspyr samengewerkt en ben ook lang geleden beta tester voor ze geweest. Zo ben ik er achter gekomen waarom het omzetten van het spel zo lang moet duren. Naast het feit dat het hele spel en de engine van Direct X naar Open GL moet worden omgezet wordt er pas naar een Mac versie gekeken zodra het spel voor de PC al uit is. Vervolgens wordt het geheel nog eens flink veel langzamer omdat de Quality control van de uitgever (in dit geval dus Activision) met veel meer aandacht kijkt naar de port dan naar het oorspronkelijke spel. Dit omdat het spel op elk vlak zo identiek mogelijk moet zijn aan het origineel.
Als het gaat om het omzetten van games naar andere platformen zou er echt een groot voorbeeld genomen moeten worden aan Blizzard. De heren daar ontwikkelen binnenshuis direct voor de twee grote PC platformen en leveren voor beide ook gelijke kwaliteit af. |

Imacs zijn waardeloos.. in de prullenbak ermee wat mij betreft. Ik heb op mijn werk een imac (videobedrijf) maar simpele mini dv capturen wordt de buffer al teveel. En zulke schermen zijn zeker wel mooi maar als er wat stuk gaat ben je meteen de pineut. En omdat de airflow van die dingen poep is wordt het stukje rommel LANGZAMER en LANGZAMER naarmate je er langer opzit.
Nee voor hetzelfde geld van een imac heb je een HELE DIKKE PC! die op alle vlakken de imac overstemd.
Dus gamen lijkt me echt verschrikkelijk met zo'n ding.. ghehehehe alleen de muis al..hoeveel buttons? 1? haha Je moet een mac aanschaffen als je een webdesigner bent met teveel geld.. het enige wat ik echt mooi vind is het scherm dat ziet er gewoon rete strak uit maar ja wat verwacht je ook voor 1700 euro. voor 800 euro zet ik een dikke pc in elkaar die qua prestaties beter is dan een imac. En dan heb je nog 900 euro voor een mooi scherm.. moet lukken lijkt me (plasma scherm aansluiten op pc haha)
maja sommige mensen zweren bij die dingen.. schijnt gebruiksvriendlijk te zijn... jammer dat ik die mening niet kan delen |
