De zomervakantie is voor de meeste mensen achter de rug en we staan weer aan het begin van een nieuw gameseizoen. De meeste gamers zullen misschien wel weer uitkijken naar de lange winteravonden waarin er weer volop genoten kan worden van de leukste games. En dat geldt ook voor de Call of Duty fans. Zaten we een jaar geleden in spanning af te wachten op Call of Duty 4, zo staat dit najaar Call of Duty: World at War op de agenda. En de spanning is er absoluut. Ook al klinken er wat pessimistische geluiden van sommige kanten, de aankomende titel van Treyarch wordt toch nauwkeurig in de gaten gehouden. Zullen we van deze game net zo kunnen gaan genieten als van Call of Duty 4? Die vraag zal ongetwijfeld nog wel even onbeantwoord blijven. Gelukkig naderen we al met rasse schreden het moment waarop we DVD'tje in de handen kunnen nemen: 14 november is het zover. De game zal in ieder geval het niet alleen bij de consoles laten, de PC gamers mogen er ook van genieten. World at War. Treyarch kreeg meer dan twee jaar geleden de opdracht van Activision om een nieuwe Call of Duty te gaan ontwikkelen. De ontwikkelaar had in de gaten dat een belangrijk gedeelte van de Tweede Wereldoorlog nog niet eerder vertaald is het Call of Duty principe. En dat is niet Europa, nee we moeten een stuk naar het oosten toe, naar de pacific. En dat is niet hetzelfde. Je speelt nu niet alleen in een andere omgeving, maar je vecht tegen een onverschrokken, nooit terugtrekkende vijand. Een vijand die tot de laatste adem zal blijven vechten, gebruik makend van de wreedste tactieken.
Ook zou de Russische opmars naar Berlijn nog opwindend genoeg zijn om te spelen. Je zult daarom ook aan het Oost-front vechten, waar je de Duitsers steeds verder moet terugdringen.
Wordt het weer een Call of Duty 4, maar dan in een oud jasje? Als je bedenkt dat dezelfde engine gebruikt wordt, zou je dat denken. Maar Treyarch brengt ook enkele vernieuwingen toe aan de game. Vooral de co-op mode is een opmerkelijke vernieuwing; voor het eerst in de franchise wordt dit gerealiseerd. Uiteraard worden de perks en attachments nu aangepast naar de World at War stijl.
Genoeg geluld. Laten we nu eerst maar eens de datum in de agenda zetten en kijken of de aankomende beta positieve geluiden zal doen laten horen. |

ik heb echt wel zin in die beta.
ben heel benieuwd hoe het gaat werken en hoe het er gaat uitziet in de pacific.
ik moet wel zeggen dat het veel op cod2 lijkt maar natuurlijk ziet de echte call of duty fan wel dat het wel degelijk anders is.
wat ook zo mooi is is dat die mp beta op pc en xbox360 komt.
hebben we daar ook geen gezeik meer mee  |
